Activists Say Isa Adamu’s Appointment Is plus in Promoting Minority Rights
By Tarhyang Enowbikah Tabe with Additional Facts Human rights activists around the country have said the appointment of Isa Adamu as Private Secretary to Prime Minister Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute by the Head of State is a confirmation that the Government has the promotion of Minority right as a priority. Minority rights activists who spoke to The Advocate say the gesture is one which seeks ways of empowering minority communities. Adopted by consensus in 1992, the purpose of the United Nations Minorities Declaration is the promotion and protection of the rights of persons belonging to national or ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities and as such to contribute to the political and social stability of States in which they live.
