Ngantchui Fandio Makarios Is Peace Man Of The Year 2021

  By Tarhyang Enowbikah Tabe It was a standing ovation that faithful day of Wednesday October 13 at the Hall of the Synod Office when the organizers of the 2021 PCC Peace Award declared that the winner of the Peace Man of the year Award was the very dynamic, creative and compassionate Educationist and School administrator with over 15 years experience and steward leader, Ngantchui Fandio Makarios. Uncle Makarios as he is fondly called is a man of few words with a lot of experience in leadership and peace studies both in the French System of Education and the Anglo-Saxon system. The Christian to the core and Son of Rev. Fandio Zacchaeus and Mme Emilia Mbiako picked up the award after the Rev Fonki Samuel in 2019 and the late Cardinal Tumi in 2020. The Award winner is a dedicated humanitarian; a passionate activist, an educationist, a women and girls championing leader, a human rights advocate and community developer. She is founder and the executive director of Mother of Hope Cameroon (MOHCAM). She also the co-founder of the Women Peacebuilder’s Network(WOPEN)and a graduate from the International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC) where she studied Humanitarian Action, Peace and Conflict studies.   Compiled By Ndassi Gilbert The Executive Director of Local Youth Corner, Achaleke Christian Leke ,was conferred the Title of Peace Youth of the Year in a ceremony that took place at the Synod Office hall in Buea last Wednesday October 13. He is a is a peacebuilding, counter violent extremism and international development expert from Cameroon with 14 years of experience as a practitioner and academician.  He holds an MSc in Conflict Security and Development from the University of Birmingham UK. His passion for peace was inspired by his childhood of growing up in Fiango Kumba which was known for crime and violence. The realities of violence drove him to the determination to build violent free communities with young people at the forefront. Organization Advocates Safe, Legal Abortion

According to the members, every woman should have the right to be able to use a safe and effective method of contraception to prevent unintended pregnancy and to have access to safe and legal voluntary termination of pregnancy. To pass on this message to the population, the Organisation known by its acronym as, ODAS Center that works with laws that govern sexual and reproductive health (SRH) rights, has launched its activities at the national level. CAMP, European Union, UNESCO Partner In COVID-19 Fact Checking Project

By Mbonda Lizzy Noel  The Cameroon Association of Media Professionals, CAMP, has launched a national training for Mid Career Media Professionals on Fact Checking COVID-19 related stories. The task which is part of a series of projects under the Coronavirus Fact initiative is sponsored by The European Union through UNESCO. The project entails 3 training workshops for 20 journalists in Buea, Bamenda and Douala. It shall also include two physical Meetups for experience and best practice sharing and two online meetings. The Buea workshop was officially opened by the National President of the Cameroon Association of Media Professionals, Solomon Agborem. Agbor Balla Nominated For Dutch Government Human Rights Award

By Tarhyang Enowbikah Tabe Cameroonian Lawyer and Human Rights Defender, Barrister Felix Nkongho Agbor Balla has been nominated for the 2021 Dutch Government Human Rights Tulip Award. The lone Cameroonian nominated amongst the 12 is Felix Nkongho a human rights lawyer and renowned activist who defends and promotes universal rights and non-violence from his office in the conflict zone in Cameroon. He is the founder and president of the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa (CHRDA), a NGO dedicated to the protection and advancement of human rights and the promotion of democracy as a political culture in Africa. According to a release from the Organizers of the Award, those nominated have been selected because of the innovative, creative ways in which they work to defend human rights, the courage they demonstrate doing this work under difficult circumstances and the positive impact their work has on their community and their country.   An independent jury composed of
