Scaling Up Social Cohesion In COVID-19 Era:The SNWOT Model

By Tarhyang Enowbikah Tabe   The South West North West Women’s Taskforce, better known by its viral acronym as SNWOT has wrapped up on a project to scale up social cohesion in five of Cameroon’s ten regions during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The triple phase mission project titled “fostering social cohesion amidst COVID-19 in Cameroon” was being implemented in the North West, South West, West, Littoral, and Centre Regions. Justifying the project, the SNWOT explains that their response to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country is in line with her humanitarian commitment to ensuring decent, healthy, and adequate living standards for all humans.  The Model To this effect, the leading Women’s Peace Advocacy Network in Cameroon, SNWOT had been sensitizing the masses, providing psycho social support and championing advocacy on the need for social cohesion within vulnerable groups like the internally displaced, physically challenged persons and grassroots communities

Mezam SDO Puts Collective Sporting Activities On Hold

This was done Wednesday July 22, 2020. This follows the consistent increase in the number or infected Coronavirus patients in the North West Region and Bamenda II being the heart of contaminated. Bafut Mayor Encourages Pupils, Promises Scholarships

By Anye Nde Nsoh At the wake of the Anglophone crisis in 2016 that started with teachers and lawyers protesting for reforms, the educational sector was also brought to its knees in the North West and South West Regions. In 2019, no pupil could brave the odds and write the First school Leaving Certificate. However some 60 pupils are sitting the exams at GMI Bamenda. This mark of strength demonstrated by the pupils was saluted by Ngwakongoh Lawrence, Mayor of Bafut as they sit the first day of the First school Leaving Certificate examination Tuesday July 21, 2020. Writing materials such as pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, sharpeners were provided to these pupils to facilitate writing for a better future. Travelers Stranded At Mamfe Motor Park

By Ojong Joseph Ojong In Mamfe Huge number of travelers are stranded at the Mamfe Motor Park following a decision by the Manyu Professional Drivers Union to declare today a Non Working Day. The Union is accusing one of its former presidents of siphoning money and using the union funds to run a private agency. The matter is pending in court and will be heard today at the Mamfe court of first instance. In view of this, the president had therefore given an order for no movement across the Division. This decision was arrived at during their last meeting which held at the union office at mile two park Mamfe. This decision has therefore affected travelers across the Division willing to go to Ekok, Bamenda, and Kumba. It is expected that work will resume tomorrow depending on the outcome of the hearing in court today. We keep you posted.

FSLC 2020: 93,500 Candidates Sit For The Exam Nationwide

By Shing Timothy M 93, 500 pupils across the national territory have rounded off the written part of the 2020 session of the First School Leaving Certificate -FSLC Examinations, this July 21, 2020. On the first day of the examination, the candidates were tested in Mathematics, English Language and Information Communication Technology. Unlike in previous occasions, this year’s examination will not have sporting activities because of fears of the novel coronavirus. The examination this year was particularly different given the presence of the coronavirus pandemic in the country and the Anglophone crisis in the North Wes and Southwest regions in particular. Chief Nkemayang Paul: A Media Baobab Buried

By Shing Timothy M Thousands of people from across the country have paid their last respects the media icon Chief Nkemayang Paul few weeks after his demise in Limbe.   Before his demise, he was one of the leading media professionals in Cameroon and the Publisher of the Star Newspaper. The burial of the journalist, traditional ruler took place July 25, 2020, in Limbe, South West Region of Cameroon. Chief Foanyi Nkemayang Paul, died on June 18, 2020, reportedly because of diabetic coma at the Presbyterian Health Centre in Down Beach Limbe. According to the wife, the late Chief Nkemayang Paul was rushed to the hospital and his vital signs were checked, revealing that his blood sugar level was above 500 which made him to go into a diabetic coma before his demise.
