Mambanda Jubilates As Mayor Announces First Portable Water Project

By Prince Oben Agbor

Rumours had earlier circulated within the headquarters of kumba III Sub division in Meme division of the South West region that, the long-awaited supply of portable water is to materialize soon.

These rumours were confirmed by the Mayor of the Kumba III Sub divisional Council, Dr Isaac Nguba Mukwelle, who took the recently held Council session to announce that Mambanda, the Sub divisional headquarters of Kumba III Sub division would in the days ahead be supplied with portable water.

Speaking on the occasion of an Ordinary session devoted to the deliberation and adoption of the 2019 Administrative and Management Accounts of the Council, Dr Isaac Nguba Mukwelle stated:" The project for water to Mambanda that was executed at 100% by the records, yet water did not flow from the taps of Mambanda, has been followed up and the boss of Camwater assured me that I should promise this Honourable assembly that portable water will flow in Mambanda within one week. We encourage the Mambanda households to connect water to their homes".

The news received a thunderous applause from the Councillors and all present in the hall as it will be a major breakthrough in the development of the kumba III Municipality.

Since its creation following a split of the then Kumba Central Sub division by the President of the Republic of Cameroon, His Excellency Paul Biya, the Sub divisional headquarters of kumba III, has been begging for portable water as efforts by the two previous Mayors viz: Dr. Barrister Samuel Takem Ndeme( from CPDM Party) and Mr. John kona Makia (from SDF Party ), did not yield any success  despite the fact that a lot of noise was trumpeted about it.

Denizens have been left with no option but to fetch drinking water from boreholes and streams that often dry up in the peak of the Dry season, thereby leaving them at the mercy of water borne diseases.

After over 100 days in office, the British trained Pharmacist, Dr Isaac Nguba Mukwelle, knows the danger of allowing his people to go without good drinking water and decided to prioritize it.

Today this dream has come true and the population of Mambanda has greatly saluted the gesture.

The CPDM Party-run Council seems to be determined to bring the much needed development in the municipality despite the financial challenges it is facing at the moment.
