Ngantchui Fandio Makarios Is Peace Man Of The Year 2021

It was a standing ovation that faithful day of Wednesday October 13 at the Hall of the Synod Office when the organizers of the 2021 PCC Peace Award declared that the winner of the Peace Man of the year Award was the very dynamic, creative and compassionate Educationist and School administrator with over 15 years experience and steward leader, Ngantchui Fandio Makarios.
Uncle Makarios as he is fondly called is a man of few words with a lot of experience in leadership and peace studies both in the French System of Education and the Anglo-Saxon system.
The Christian to the core and Son of Rev. Fandio Zacchaeus and Mme Emilia Mbiako picked up the award after the Rev Fonki Samuel in 2019 and the late Cardinal Tumi in 2020.
To him, stepping in those two shoes is too much for him and only God can see him through as he moves on with peace work.
The Peace Man of The Year, flanked by his wife, another peace merchant and "Do No Harm Principle" Expert, said, the Award is not in recognition of what he has done so far, but an indication for what needs to be done in the days and months ahead for peace to prevail.
He is Executive Assistant at the National Directorate of Education of the Evangelical Church in Cameroon, Douala from where he takes his time to preach peace across the board.
Makarios has been head of pedagogic service and projects at the Education Secretariat of the Council of Evangelical and Baptist Churches in Cameroon
The multi lingual grand frère was head of extra-curricular activities at Evangelical Secondary School New-Bell and Head of German department at the Evangelical Secondary School New-Bell
He also has a rich academic base cutting across Presbyterian High School Kumba in the South West Region through University of Yaounde I and then to obtaining a Masters in Translation from University of Mainz, Germersheim, Germany.
From 2013-2021 he has attended and facilitated a series of Workshops and trainings in the fields of school administration, finances and pedagogy – National Directorate of Education of the Evangelical Church in Cameroon.
Makarios has trained hundreds of school administrators, teachers in the domain of “good governance”, transparent resource management; leaner’s centered pedagogic methods, non-violent communication and conflict transformation).
He has also impacted positively the lives of hundred thousand pupils, students and young people.
He was involved in the selection, preparation and follow-up seminars of volunteers – Weltwärts-South-North Volunteer program of Bread for the World, supported by the German government and supervised, accompanied and trained scores of Germans and Cameroonian young volunteers.
Makarios also worked on the domain of training on pedagogical methods and approaches aimed at promoting peace and non-violence, respect for human rights, gender equality, creativity, interaction and entrepreneurship at the National Directorate of Education of the Evangelical Church in Cameroon.
He also, he trained more than a hundred of teachers and mentored hundreds of pupils and students.
He is winner of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Foreign student prize in the University of Mainz-Germany during the 2002/2003 academic year.
During the 500 schools conference of 2014 in Tumaini University Dar Es Salaam College & United evangelical mission, Germany, the award winner spoke on the theme, “The role of protestant education amidst contemporary challenges in Africa.
He was also speaker during the National colloquium on “Quality and Funding of Education in Cameroon” in 2018 that took place at the Protestant University of Central Africa.
The one time resource person and focal point of the National forum on innovative teaching practices for the Protestant Private Education Agency in Cameroon, it should be noted is a certified trainer of trainers in peace and conflict transformation.
