Centre Region Emerges Overall Best In CAMTEL FENASSCO Games

Fenassco League A Games have come and gone with the Centre region emerging overall best in all the competitions. The finals of the male football were played at the Limbe Centenary Stadium April 9th 2024 with the East Region beating their opponents from the Centre two goals to one in a fierce encounter.

The leading Cameroon Telecommunications Company (CAMTEL) dished out several prizes to the winners of the games. 

Closing the ceremony, Secondary Education Minister Professor Pauline Nalova Lyonga, sent out congratulatory messages to some individuals whom according to her, contributed a lot to the successful turnout of the competition, amongst whom are the Governor of the South West Region, the National President of Fenassco for making the competition a memorable one.

Minister Nalova also appreciated the engineer Mr. Elame Victor, who constructed the monument within short notice, the health department and those who were in charged of providing safe and healthy meals for the athletes throughout the competition. Saker Baptist College was not left out as she was recognized and awarded for all the ambiance provided during the games.

It was still in the light of congratulatory messages that Minister Nalova recognised and offered the Chantal Biya’s Excellence Prize to the CEO of Bamboo Complex and Events Centre Mr. Ebai Lottin, Governor Okalia Bilai and the South West Regional Delegation of Secondary Education, the youngest athlete Mbongo Miriam who also doubled as the finalist in Judo received the fourth prize.

Agbor Bryan emerged best player of the tournament. The East Region won the general fair play trophy. The most civic regions’ trophies were given to the Littoral, North West and West regions respectively.

A documentary, a production of the Distance Education Centre of the Ministry of Secondary Education in its highlights of the games, showcased how the competitions took place during the week and the different activities which took place outside the pitches, some of which include the inauguration of the Fenassco Monument, educative talks on some topics like menstrual hygiene, artificial intelligence, how to correctly wash hands and storytelling etc.

The Minister of Secondary Education had equally paid keen attention to the living conditions and security of the athletes and officials as she inspected the infirmaries and the state of toilets. She also inquired about the quality and quantity of the food served to the athletes in the various refectories.

Limbe City Mayor Paul Efome Ngale also fulfilled his promised by offering the prizes of ten thousand francs to each of the players who scored goals during the finals of the male football encounter.

It is worth to note that the finals recorded the presence of Ministers Joseph Le, Jean de Dieu Momo, Senators and a host of dignitaries, traditional, religious and municipal authorities who graced the Limbe Centenary Stadium with their presence to witness the close of the games. Next games will take place in Abong Mbang, East Region.
