Solidarity Health Foundation Wants Visibility On Women’s Rights, Health

International Women's Day is a global
day for celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievement
of Women.
The day also marks a call to action for
accelerating women's equality reason why the management of Solidarity Health
Foundation, Buea, Cameroon had a working session with the female workforce to
celebrate women's achievements and increase visibility of women's rights and
health.
According to the Director of the
institution, Mrs. Ndefon Beatrice, calling out inequality is KEY while
educating women on health choice decisions, sexual and reproductive health
rights should also go on.
She strongly believes women in
leadership can achieve an equal future in a Covid-19 world as the workforce at
her clinic consists primarily of women powered by the collective efforts of
all.
“The struggle for equality belongs to no
single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts if
all who care about human rights truly make a positive difference for women.”
She said
According to Ndefon Beatrice, this
year's theme for the International Day "Women in leadership: Achieving an
equal future in a Covid-19 world; celebrates the tremendous efforts by women
and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from
Covid-19 pandemic.
It should be noted that the Solidarity
Health Foundation has Women as Front liners of healthcare, caregivers, community
organizers and Mobilizers in Covid-19 prevention activities, sexual and
Reproductive healthcare, Gender-Based violence prevention activities while
mainstreaming Protection and gender in all activities to build resilient
communities and individuals.
On Feminism and leadership, Mrs Ndefon
Beatrice reiterated that "Feminism is not about making women stronger. Women
are already strong; it’s about changing the way the world perceives that
strength"
The women workforce at the Solidarity
Health Foundation embodies this strength and leadership qualities which
contributing significantly in promoting women's rights and health, leadership
and in improving healthcare and psychosocial support services in and out of the
clinic.
The session ended with an interactive discussion and distribution of contraceptives to participants.
