By Anye Nde Nsoh
Some nine visually impaired students in Bamenda II
Social Centre, have benefited writing materials from Bamenda II Council, to
facilitate their learning process in the centre, a gesture considered very
timely.
A slate, a stylus and realms of cardboard papers
each were handed to these nine visually impaired students from the Centre
Wednesday 26th January 2022 at the council premises handed over by Mayor Chenwi
Peter.
The materials received, comes to add to white canes
and wheel chairs handed to the Centre in 2021.
This exercise queues in with the Mayor's relentless
efforts in supporting the educational sector in his municipality.
On several occasions he has called on all to shun
fear, regain the classrooms and effectively teach pupils and students in his
municipality.
Being his routine, he has never missed out on any
resumption of school term, touring schools in his municipality as well as
donating didactic materials to hundreds for an effective school year as well as
Reconstruction and rehabilitation of classrooms.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Mayor Chenwi Peter
told the visually impaired that his council will not relent in ensuring that
pupils and students, no matter their disability, go to school in his
municipality.
The Bamenda II Social Centre has students with
varied disabilities, and has as aimed to educate them at all levels.
Gladys Ekie, Director of the social Centre
appreciated the Mayor for the timely gesture and for reacting promptly, coming
at a time when pupils and students are gearing up for the third sequence test
of the second term.
