A Cameroonian  deportee from Equatorial Guinea whose name we got as , Ebane Epang Diana has said she was wrongly accused by security officers  as one of those tarnishing the image of the country abroad.

She was speaking to journalists on August 28, 2022 after spending weeks in detention.

Ebane was among others who were arrested at the airport as deportees on arrival from Equatorial Guinea

They were detained  for several weeks and she was released on bail after family intervention and other procedures and preconditions.

Speaking to journalists, she denied being part of any scheme to tarnish the image of her country in Equatorial Guinea where she had lived just for a month.

We gather that the family home of Ebane Epang Diana was razed by fire in the early days of the Anglophone crisis in Cameroon.

According to our sources, following  several attacks and clashes  between the military and the separatist fighters on July 1st, 2022 in which  Several people lost their lives during the crossfire, many young persons escaped for safety.

According to Ebane  Epang Diana ,She too had to run for safety into hiding in Equatorial Guinea until August 1st, 2022 when she was caught in a raid which landed her in an air filled boat inside the sea among other Cameroonians being deported.

She narrated that the overloaded boat almost capsized but was rescued by marine patrol and passengers taken back to Equatorial Guinea.

This time, they got their passports seized after a couple of days, were handcuffed and put in an aircraft back to Cameroon.

"On reaching Cameroon on August 6th, we were arrested by the military and were accused of tarnishing the image of Cameroon abroad," she explained.
