Limbe I Mayor Eposi Florence says Council Is In Pains

The esteemed Mayor of Limbe I Council, Florence Eposi Mbwaye, has asserted that from the previous year until the early stages of this year, the council has encountered a series of painful incidents. Her pronouncement was made within the confines of the council chambers during a session that was specifically convened to ratify the council management's undertakings in recent months.

Mayor Florence Mbwaye Eposi expounded that the preceding year was riddled with challenges and complexities. The council was beset by not only financial constraints but also the unfortunate and untimely demise of its workers, rendering the period arduous and taxing.

“The Limbe I Council has lost five of its councilors during this mandate and on the early hours of Tuesday the 21st of March this year; thieves broke into the Council destroying 21 doors. The matter is still under investigation. I appeal to you all to keep the Limbe I Council in your personal prayers” Mayor Mbwaye Eposi said.

The Budget

Speaking during the session the Mayor of Limbe I Council Mbwaye Eposi Florence said the budget estimated for 2022 is balanced both in revenue and expenditure at the sum of FCFA 900,000,000, recurrent expenditure stands at FCFA 512,740,000 while actual spending is FCFA 324,133,308 which was used to pay salaries, purchase of materials and supplies, taxes and duties, subsidies, sundry loses, transfers and services making a 63%.

Projects

The mayor cited some development projects carried out which include the Rehabilitation of the sanitation block at GNS Bota and the rehabilitation of GNS mile 4 Rehabilitation of the existing block of 5 classrooms G.S Bonadikombo. 

She continued with the Construction of a youth leadership training centre in Limbe I Municipality. Construction of lock-up stores at Bussumbu, Construction of borehole equipped with electric pump in Lower Mawoh.

Others included the Construction of a borehole equipped with an electric pump in quarter 16 Bonadikombo Construction of a fence wall at Bota District Hospital separating the mortuary and children's ward among others.

She sincerely thanked the entire staff, administration, and Councilors for their constant support, while urging them to continue working as a team and collaboration should be at the forefront to take Limbe I Municipality to the next level.


Marriages

Mayor Mbwaye Eposi used the opportunity to announce that Limbe I Council organized a mass celebration of marriages on March 2, 2023, to commemorate the celebration of the 2023 International Women's Day where over 38 marriages were celebrated and over 1000 in 2022.

“I strongly encourage more marriages, and the establishment of birth certificates in our municipality because that is one of the reasons why the councils are there.” Mbwaye Eposi said.

Administration Hails Mayor

On his part the representative of the supervisory authority of Councils in Fako Division the Divisional Officer for Limbe I Subdivision, Moni Innocent Njange, hailed the Limbe I Mayor and Councilors for the spirit of collaboration despite the numerous obstacles encountered.

He encouraged them to look for other sources of income in the municipality to clear the debts of salary arrears owed to staff.
