They came in to Buea from all the corners of Manyu Division to honour their own kindred who are doing well in their various areas of work.

Amongst those who were honored by the elite of Manyu Division was the Deputy General Manager of Pamol, Manghe Donatus Asu.

This was during a ceremony that took place at the Secretariat of the Southwest Chief’s Conference in Buea on Saturday June 24, 2023.

The ceremony to recognize the elites was attended by over 50 Traditional Rulers from Manyu Division amongst other guests.

Speaking after the colourful Manyu event, Manghe Donatus Asu, Deputy General Manager of Pamol Plantations Plc, summed his impressions in this manner “The Southwest and Northwest regions have been plagued by the socio-economic crisis, causing a reduction in both social and economic activities in most areas.

For us in Manyu, we want to rekindle efforts towards developing Manyu in general with particular emphasis in the various Sub Divisions. In this light, the Manyu Traditional Rulers Association, thought it wise to identify each person from the four sub divisions that make up Manyu.

This is why they have given us honorary recognition to allow us enter the highest level of citizenship in Manyu and to make meaningful contribution to the development of the area.” Manghe said.

He further added that after the Title of OutEtiepEkpan I of Akwaya (meaning the Chief Tiger of Akwaya) that was conferred on him earlier this year by Traditional rulers of Akwaya, the recognition by the Manyu Traditional Rulers Association is another important feather upon his cap.

He went on to make a clarion call for those who have taken up arms against the state to drop them. He equally thanked President Paul Biya who appointed him on October 7, 2020 as the Deputy General Manager of Pamol Plantations Plc.

To him, it is a call to serve the nation and thus the people at the grassroots.

Four elites from Manyu Division in the Southwest Region were recognized and encouraged to do more for their people by the Manyu Traditional Rulers Association.

The four elites recognized include; Manghe Donatus Asu, Deputy General Manager of Pamol Plantations Plc, Prof. Mrs. Bechem Oneke, Registrar of the University of Buea, Ogork Besong Ntui, General Manager of SOWEDA and Tanyi Tiku Bayee the Director General of NASLA.

According to HRM Godson Oben, the paramount Chief of Mamfe, the four elites were carefully selected from the four Sub Divisions to ensure that development is unanimous and for the betterment of the people of Manyu.
