Buea was taken aback last Sunday June 25 when news went round that the Multibillionaire and philanthropist, Dr Charles Namme Menyoli had passed on to eternity.

Senator Mbella Moki Charles was about the first to break the news on Social Media through a post describing the fallen Icon as The Elephant of Buea.

He was an elephant indeed, due to his benevolence and abundance which he shared with people throughout his life on earth.

Senior Barrister Henry Ngale Monono, an Indigene from Great Soppo who must have known about his good works also commented in a few lines stating that Pa was a great man.

Though a Presbyterian Christian, Pa Menyoli would not stop at offering support to other churches which made him to be referred to as an inclusive Church Donor.

“He is one of the greatest entrepreneurs who trod past two generations, with zeal, confidence, faith and generosity. This was a giant of a man, gifted with multiple talents, which he so efficiently developed. His generosity was boundless and yielded him acclaimed as well as material and spiritual rewards.  A clear example of a man who never gave up in the face of several adversities” Publisher of Volcanic Times Newspaper and namesake to the late Icon, Charles Embola wrote on social media.

The St Veronica Medical Center Buea (BUIB teaching Hospital) commonly known as Biaka Hospital, had named its laboratory after Dr Charles Namme Menyoli one of Cameroon’s finest entrepreneurs.

Known for his love for quality and philanthropic works amongst other attributes, this move by Biaka Hospital was in recognition of this iconic figure for his support of over 4 Million Francs CFA to the hospital.

In an opening address by the Medical director of Biaka Hospital Dr. Fon Tita, he stated clearly that the funds have been used meticulously to improve on the laboratory for better services to the present and future generations who will make use of the hospital’s services.

The CEO and Chair of St Veronica Medical Center Dr. Mrs. Francisca Hongla Biaka, while handing a special gift of recognition for the kind gesture by Dr. Charles Namme Menyoli, thanked him for his love and concern towards the Biaka Hospital and promised to keep the hospital up to standard for quality services to the community.

He was a Multi Billionaire and Owner of chains of Businesses in Buea and beyond.

Mermoz Hotel, Fako Shipping Lines, Super Markets, Banks and a host of others were owned by Dr. Charles Namme Menyoli.

He was also called the Church Builder as he single handedly built a good number of Churches from sand to roof, built hospitals and donated greatly to philanthropy.

Pa Menyoli was described by the Moderator of the PCC, Rt. Rev Fonki Samuel Forba as a developmental Evangelist due to the support he gave to the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon.

In April 2021, the PCC awarded him a certificate for his outstanding works at the church and entire Christendom after being dressed in typical Sawa attire.

According to family sources Pa Menyoli died at the ripe age of 93 and that he would have turned 94 in September.
