Cameroon Wins Africa PachiPanda Challenge Again

By Tarhyang Enowbikah Tabe

Cameroon has been crowned the champion of the Africa PachiPanda Challenge for the second consecutive year.

The finale that honored the Cameroonian team took place on February 10, 2026, in Johannesburg, with the presence of many dignitaries.

The Africa PachiPanda Challenge is a pan-African technological innovation program launched by the South African MTN Group in partnership with WWF, which supports young Africans aged 18 to 35 in developing entrepreneurial and technological solutions that address the continent's significant environmental challenges, particularly those related to the nexus of food, energy, and water.

The competition was conducted in two phases: a national selection followed by a continental finale where the best projects were presented to a jury of experts in finance and sustainable development.

Cameroon secured first place with the nTron STEM Kit, presented by Arnaud Njita, earning well-deserved recognition for a project that transforms STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education by providing students with innovative learning tools.

Cameroon also achieved third place with AgriCheck, presented by Bill Agha, a solution that aims to optimize agricultural management and play a key role in strengthening food security.

This achievement replicates last year's success in the inaugural edition held in Johannesburg, where Cameroonian representatives also took 1st and 3rd places. This consecutive double victory further confirms the strength and growing maturity of the green innovation ecosystem in Cameroon.

MTN Cameroon and WWF Cameroon are proud to celebrate the extraordinary performance of Cameroonian innovators at the Africa PachiPanda Challenge in South Africa.

The laureates received 3 million and 1.5 million FCFA, respectively, along with training and connectivity equipment provided to all finalist teams. They will also benefit from enhanced strategic support to help expand their solutions across the continent, thanks to the MTN pan-African network and its partners, as well as various visibility and mentoring opportunities.

Beyond financial prizes, the program offers participants mentorship, increased visibility, access to investors, and support to accelerate the implementation of their sustainable innovations.

Regarding MTN Cameroon’s commitment, Melvin AKAM, General Manager of Regulatory & Corporate Affairs, states: “At MTN Cameroon, we firmly believe in the power of youth and innovation to transform our communities. The exceptional performances recorded this year demonstrate the creativity, determination, and excellence of young Cameroonians. We are proud to support these talents who contribute directly to building a more sustainable and technologically advanced future.”

Cameroon shone brightly once again, demonstrating that its youth are a powerful engine for sustainable solutions on the continent. MTN Cameroon and WWF Cameroon reaffirm their shared commitment to supporting innovation, sustainability, and youth to build a greener, more sustainable, and technology-driven future.
