CAMP Restructures, Extends To Other Regions

The
Cameroon Association Of Media Professionals has engaged a restructuring and
re branding process.
This
follows a Board Meeting of the Association that took place on January 15, 2021.
The
Board decided the association be expanded to other Regions and to give it more
national impact.
To
this end, Regional Representatives were appointed as follows; For South West,
Yuh Innocent, Littoral, Scholar Maloke, Centre Region, Roland Mbonteh and Grand
West Region, Gerald Ngeh.
As
part of the restructuring process, the Board created a Directorate to supervise
the activities of the executive committee.
The
Directorate arm is manned by four personalities; Executive Director, Tarhyang
Enowbikah Tabe, Project Director, Baiye Frida Ebai, Director of Administration
and Finance, Valerie Halimatou, Treasurer, Mahmoud Bin Saed, Financial Secretary
Mbi Njang Daniel, and Barrister Arrey Collins was also appointed as Director of
Legal and Humanitarian Affairs.
Meanwhile,
Solomon Agborem, Editor of The Star newspaper was elected as the National
President of Cameroon Association of Media Professionals (CAMP).
He
takes over Tarhyang Enowbikah Tabe who had served the Association for 15 years.
Agborem
was unanimously elected during a general assembly after being nominated by the
Board of Directors after an extra ordinary Board meeting on January 15, 2021.
The
new executive arm is now made up of the following members; National President,
Solomon Agborem, Vice National President, Noela Bisong, Secretary General,
Constance Mbongo, Assistant S.G, Dinga George, Public Relations Officers,
Hilary Asong and Etchu Tabot and Technical Adviser, HRM Chief Ebong Pende.
Speaking to the press after the election, the new National President of CAMP summed his impressions in this manner.
‘’
I wish to thank the Board of Directors of CAMP for the confidence bestowed on
me to be at the helm of the Association. I am taking over from someone who has
been at the helm of the association for over 15 years since it was created. I
am aware of the challenges reason why we are ready to hit the road. In the days
ahead CAMP will be in some of the schools to speak to Journalism clubs about
the essence of peace, we are also working on setting up a CAMP multimedia
centre which will be at the disposal of media professionals. We will strengthen
our presence in other regions as well as revamp our contacts with some
diplomatic missions in Cameroon.’’ Agborem said.
The new appointment at the helm of CAMP comes barely days after the members led by the erstwhile president now executive Director Tarhyang Enowbikah Tabe signed an MOU with Propeace for Sustainable Development NGO to embark on a project that will soon go operational.
About CAMP
The
Cameroon Association of Media Professionals is a registered Non- Profit
Organization with 15 years of active community services though the media.
It
was formed on the 10th of December 2005 in conformity with article 7 of law
number 90/053 of 19/12/1990 relating to the formation and functioning of
associations.
CAMP
is specialized in the effective use of the media, mass communication and
information technology for Education, Global information dissemination and
access for development, Promoting Democracy and good governance, National
capacity building, Promoting Community Health, Cultural preservation, Fight
against social injustice and Poverty alleviation.
The
professionalism of the staff is up to standard and it comprises rich brains from
different state universities and the Diaspora with particular expertise in
public relations and public performances, Advocacy, Human Rights and Democracy.
The association has as its main objectives, educating and sensitizing the public through documentaries, public performances, seminars and workshops on valuable issues, facilitate and improve on the working condition of media professionals in the nation and finally to improve and guarantee solid relationship and solidarity amongst members.
