Peace For Cameroon

Poem By DR. MRS TITANJI nee LIMA BEATRICE LEBSIA

Peace! Peace! Peace on every lip yet so far away,

Peace on the lips of the politician who is away?

The priest and the laity sing and preach peace anyway,

In our homes we say it, discuss it, and wish for it, peace and peace.

Our hearts have longed for four years running and yet no peace?

When we look for peace, we find it, that sweet peace lies in us

The perfect peace we seek daily, the peace we cherish lies in us

Peace cannot come alone, we need LOVE, show it!

Peace is not hard to find when you seek it ’cos it’s in you,

Peace is in you as it is in me; let’s pass it on to the next,

Pass it on as you smile, touch, hug and touch the next.

Who is the next to me? Is it I, she or he who sits next to you?

Smile we say is contagious, contaminate me if you can, ‘cos I need peace,

I’ll do same to you ‘cos I know you need it too, we need just sweet peace,

Are you a friend or a foe, “Surely not I ‘cos I smile when I see you.

Peace cannot come alone, we need TRUTH, prove it!

I brighten up in fellowship ‘cos we are one in the spirit of God,

We are one ‘cos we share the cup of our redeemer, who is God,

God incarnate, God of love and peace who brought light out of darkness,

For us to walk the road that leads to peace guided by the light out of darkness?

Only then can I see you as a creation of God and may you be sister/brother,

Like this we won’t feel the hurt that wars bring and we won’t bother.

In the sanctuary we should together make this peace manifested in sister//brotherhood.

Peace cannot come alone; we need JUSTICE, practice it!

The doves fly over us when peace is alive and we all soar,

When we make peace with others, we live free lives and roar,

The laughter causes ripples and all around bathe and soon share in the joy.

Peace alone? No! Real peace comes when the people know true justice,

Real peace comes when we can look eye to eye and cry out for justice,

When there is peace and justice in the land; we can gladly say brother/ sister

When peace and justice flow around the country, hatred will go and love will flow

When we open our doors for peace, we welcome the peace we seek and it will flow

Peace cannot come alone; we need RECONCILIATION, be part of it!

May the peace and justice we seek prevail in our midst,

Our wonderful world needs peace now more than ever before,

May the sister/brother sitting next to me be the reason for peace to reign.

May I see God’s image in the person I call sister/brother, auntie/uncle, and daughter/son,

May all the citizens of this land together break the chains of hatred and embrace peace,

May my fellow compatriots break the chains of tribalism and finger-pointing and unite.

Peace cannot come alone, we need ACTION,

 let us act now!

LORD, MAKE US VERITABLE INSTRUMENTS OF YOUR PEACE!! AMEN
