Security forces have intensified their search for a former Ambazonian General who recently put down his arms to abandon fighting.

Eyong Gustave Egbe, AKA - General Akatapou is reported to have dropped arms on grounds that he was misled in joining the Ambazonian fighters and decided to stop go back to his community to apologize.

A few days after he left the forest in November 2020, security officers have been looking for him but he is nowhere to be found.

Family sources report that he came home and collected a few dresses and left to an unknown destination telling them that he was sorry for joining the fighters and that he has decided to stop.

Security official seems not to be satisfied with the information they got from the family and have continued to mount pressure and intensify their search beyond Mamfe, to other cities where they hoped he is hiding.

Meanwhile another search for him has been recorded by Ambazonian Fighters who also stormed his family residence, demanding for his whereabouts

The fighters are not okay with him leaving them and consider his act as one of betrayal.

His family members say the fighters say if they find him they will take him back to the camp and treated as a blackleg.

Since he left the forest and made a stopover at his house, Eyong Gustave Egbe, AKA - General Akatapou’s whereabouts is still unknown to both security officials and Ambazonian fighters.

Many believe that like many others, he may have ran to Nigeria for safety after abandoning what is now referred to as the struggle in good faith.
