October 19 will go down in history books that the Buea based network, known as Last Town Network has come to stay.

The group which is made up of residents of the quarter, both home and abroad decided to launch its activities with a cleanup campaign as well as some sporting activities for kids in the quarter.

Speaking during the launching, the Branch President Eteki Stella Dopgima, a bona fide member of the association welcome all to what she termed “this historic launching ceremony of the Last Town Network Buea”

She added that, on behalf of the members she extends warm feelings of appreciation to all for having honoured the call as they strive to achieve their mission of fostering peace, solidarity and development in their Community and country at large.

The branch president gave a special thanks to their Matron Mme Ebot, for her presence.

“Words can neither qualify nor quantify how happy and grateful we are   which is an eloquent testimony of the concern and attachment you have for our community in particular and Buea in general.” She said.

Speaking about the Network, Stella Dopgima said “The Last Town Network comes on the heels of the positive backdrop emanating from the importance of living together and social cohesion. The whole idea was initiated by Dr. Peter Keke in the United States of America, who decided to bring the children born and raised in this neighborhood together under the banner of Last Town Network.”

It should be noted that the vision and objective of this Network as preached by Dr Peter Keke, is for solidarity and to create a scholarship fund for the needy children in this community and to equally foster peace and development.

More importantly Peter Keke said it’s the time for us to renew our commitment as children of this neighborhood, to empower ourselves and communities, save lives and bring positive change.

Dr Peter Keke, who is the vision bearer, also wants the network to build a safer, fairer, greener, more inclusive society that they want to see and leave.

Last town, according to Stella Dopgima, use to be a small lovely environment where everyone knows everyone with less crimes and mutual love for each other, lived as brother and sisters from one big family, respecting and appreciating each one as well as living in peace and united way.

She said growing up in the neighborhood was such amazing experience where mothers and grandmothers considered every child in this neighborhood theirs.

“You couldn’t never go hungry because any kitchen you enter the mother will give you food. That is the love we all shared here in past.” She narrated

She  added that today they want to take that love to another dimension which is the creation of the formidable Network because only together can they create a shared vision and only together can they transform that shared vision into effective action. The Advocate gathered that there are a lot of activities earmarked by the Network to be carried out which will be made public soon.

The home based members of the Network and community, were called to take advantage and make good use of this opportunity giving to them by their brothers and sisters abroad.
