All Hopes Not Lost For Young Footballers- Njalla Quan Jr.
By Kum Seraphine Sangha
All hope is not lost for the young football talents
who were being trained at the recently shutdown Njalla Quan Sports Academy
(NQSA), despite the announcement made recently byHenry Njalla Quan Jr. This
revelation was made July 15th 2023, during a pressconference
organised by its owner to clear the air on some of the issues that led to his
suspension as the fourth Vice President of FECAFOOT.
Speaking during the press conference, the now
suspended 4th Vice President of FECAFOOT revealed that, in order not
to kill the dreams of many young Cameroonians through what he termed a “bias
decision” by the FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto’o, Henry Njalla Quan Jr.
explained that he has spoken with the parents of these young football aspirants
and they have understood with him. “we are planning on how to transfer some of
them abroad, according to their performance, some to elite one clubs, while the
much younger ones below the age of 11 years can look for any football academy
of their choice in the country and enrol”.
He explained that the decision to shut down the
academy is the best for the future of the young football talents because “the
recent crisis between myself and the FECAFOOTPresident targets the academy,
thus making the dreams of these young football stars bleak”.
Henry Njalla Quan Jr. also stated that the sports
academy is not out to make money but rather to promote living together as
football remains a unifying factor for Cameroonians. But that with the present
dispensation, he is not going to reverse his decision, but would rather
renovate and transform the sports complex to fit into any business of his
choice.
It should be noted that this press conference is
timely, as it comes few hours after a decision was signed suspending the FECAFOOT
4th Vice President from partaking in any football activity for a
period of ten years.
While addressing the over fifty (50) men and women of
the press who represented media organs both in and around the South West and
Littoral Regions, Njalla Quan Jr. disclosed that he has no regrets following
his decision to resign from a job some people termed as lucrative, where he was
earning about eight hundred thousand (800) francs CFA monthly. “I have no
regrets resigning. My decision had been prepared ever since, because things
were going in a way that did not align with my ethics and principles. The most
important thing is to do what makes you happy. I was not going to benefit the
800fcfa salary all my life, it is a public office”, he stated.
He further revealed that he was not in FECAFOOT to
make money, and so the suspension will not affect him financially. He also told
reporters how he used his salary as FECAFOOT 4th vice president to
support football activities. “In over a year in office, I gave donations worth
over eight (8) million francs cfa like kits to referees, materials to clubs and
cash to some media houses”, explaining that he did not bring them out to social
media but documented every proof of his donations. He also added that he works
in a company with a great reputation also has little businesses; stressing the
fact that he is also an heir.
