Fake Clinics On The Rise In Kumba

By Amos Enow

There has been a recent rise of fake clinics in Kumba, economic hub and breadbasket of troubled Southwest Region currently undergoing a conflict.

These clinics are alleged to be specialized in wooing victims and drugging them leading to untimely deaths.

Most of the cases die from running stomach, vomiting and dehydration after consuming poisonous substances.

The situation is such that the perpetrators of this crime drug their victims and when and when they feel sick, their agents will recommend the victim and help them to arrive at the fake clinic.

Here, they will perform fake consultation and administer drugs the strange drug which will instead increase the damage caused leading to deaths.

We also gather that there is also an extortion scam with the issuing of exorbitant medical bills to their victims.

Their victims are kept in the clinics till such bills are cleared even without being fully treated or at worst case at death.

Most victims include returnee Cameroonians from the Diaspora for reasons we are yet to understand.

According to several reports, these returnees, both males and females die under very strange and common situations.

Some are allegedly poisoned by friends, neighbours and other acquaintances for reasons we are yet to detect.

At some point those who survived attacks or poisoning are rushed to a nearby clinic for treatment but strangely no one survives from such a rush.

Investigations in to this have been opened severally but results of the investigation are far from being known.

Only recently, a Cameroonian based in Germany was beheaded by yet to be identified men days after he returned to Cameroon for the vacation.

Ngome, the name we got had barely spent a week in Cameroon before his unfortunate demise.

He was lastly spotted at a friend’s wedding ceremony the night before he was found death.

In January this year, the death was reported of a US-based Cameroonian, Tatiana, in the state of Texas.

While the cause of death has not been officially mentioned, multiple reports say her loved ones think she was poisoned back in Cameroon where she got married on December 23, 2021.

Tatiana’s demise made her one of the latest in a list of Diaspora-based Cameroonians or bush fallers as they are referred to in local parlance, to die under mysterious circumstances.

Days after returning to Texas, the USA from Cameroon where she got married, she is said to have exhibited signs of ill health.

She would later start vomiting blood before eventually giving up the ghost.

Back in 2017, life had been all fun for Herve a “Bush Faller” who was on vacation in Douala Cameroon until that night at Mabanda quarter when things turned sour.

Eye witnesses attest that Herve was in a drinking spot with friends when suddenly a heated debate ensued.

They temperature of the debate rose at a geometric rate and tempers began to flare.

The friends had taken enough from each other and decided it was high time they settled the matter physically in a free for all fight.

It was at this juncture that Herve from Europe suffered punches and knife wounds from his angry and often depressed Cameroonian friends leading to his demise.

These cases are similar to several others recorded over time.

In most such cases, the bushfallers’ deaths have been attributed to poisoning for very strange reasons.
