CHAMEG Joins Government To Fight COVID-19

Leading humanitarian and rights based women-led Civil Society think tank, Changing Mentalities, Empowering Groups, known by its acronym as CHAMEG,  has embarked on a one month  project to support Government’s efforts in the fight against the deadly COVID-19 Pandemic.

The Advocate Cameroon has been following the project which is already in its third week with a series of activities already taken place with very positive results and applauds from the beneficiary communities.

The group which is coordinated by Agbor Magdalene, widely known as Agbor Meg, started their donation of Face Masks at the Mile 17 Motor Park in Buea, Southwest Region Of Cameroon.

At this very popular transit point, over 200 Face Masks were distributed to drivers and passengers onboard vehicles.

The team, The Advocate Cameroon gathered has equally donated some more than 100 Face Masks to the Buea Taxi Drivers Union as a means to halt the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The most recent action of CHAMEG is the donation of more than 100 Hand Sanitizers and Face Masks to the Cameroon Ratio and Television, CRTV, Southwest.

Speaking to The Advocate Cameroon, Agbor Meg said, it was imperative for Journalists who have the responsibility of informing the masses to be protected so they can effectively and efficiently carry out their daunting functions.

The Station Manager of CRTV Buea, Kange Williams Wasaloko was elated with the gesture of the CHAMEG team and as he expressed himself at the ceremony that took place in Buea on April 17.

All these actions, according to Meg Agbor, goes to reinforce the measures put in place by the World Health Organization and the Government of Cameroon to fight the COVID-19 Pandemic.

It should be noted that Changing Mentalities and Empowering Groups (CHAMEG) is an NGO that operates in Cameroon and has impacted the lives of many through to its community outreach projects in many domains.

From solving and addressing problems related to the preservation, storage, marketing, and processing of food among the underprivileged, to advocating for the eradication of harmful cultural practices like female circumcision and early marriages of girl children, the organization also focused on the need to improve the socio-economic condition of women to achieve effective change.



With the escalation of the Anglophone crisis and its resultant effect, the NGO also got  itself involved in a lot of humanitarian projects whose results are cited as best practices.

With the advent of the Coronavirus, many people are not surprised that the Organization has embarked on actions towards preventing the virus and its ravaging effects.
